meeting the long lost...
07.07.2011
Hi, so I just recently met my real grandmother in sohoum, ghana (as I said my grandfather was a player so this grandmother is actually my dad's mom) and it was so it was surreal seeing her after only hearing about for so long. There was a bit of a language barrier problem because she grew and is still living in a poorer part of Ghana and did not go to school therefore does not speak English. I was still very excited to see her and was even more excited to know that she could still recognize me even though I left Ghana when I was a baby and she has only seen pictures of me. Apparently she has been taking in orphans so she had a group of girls staying with her when we got there. I am happy to see her so excited and energetic to see me even though she is pretty old now.
Before seeing my grandmother, we visited my uncle in a neighboring city, koforidua, Ghana. This is my mothers eldest brother. Funny enough, not only did he not recognize me but he didn't recognize my father either and my dad was in Ghana with him just two before this trip. Well I eventually told him who I am and his reaction was priceless. He covered his face with his hands and said "awurade yankopong" (not sure of the spelling) which lord Jesus Christ. He was so surprised that I had come all the way from Canada and seen him that it was not long until he started crying. After looking at some picture of me when I was young and some of my mother when she was young, we left to go back to Accra to sleep but we promised that we would come back onf Friday. That would be tomorrow. So that is basically that's happened so far.
Catch you later
